HazMat Technician Level: Modules A-D:
Hazardous Materials Technician Level: Modules A-D: This course is a 160-hour program (given over nonconsecutive training weeks) designed to provide: requisite knowledge, fundamentals of chemistry and monitoring, and manipulative training, to prepare trainees for duty on a Hazardous Materials Response Team. Open to fire service, law enforcement, health, environmental and specific private industry personnel, this course includes class, didactic, and hands-on training in real-world scenario-based experiences.
Pre-requisite: First Responder Operations (FRO).

HazMat Technician Module “A”:
Begins the process of the Technician program. It is an intense, one-week overview of Basic Chemistry, and how that chemistry affects the hazardous materials response. The Periodic Table of the Elements forms the foundation for this educational and instructive program. Lecture only.

Amplifies the basic chemistry week with an introduction to Monitoring/Measuring devices, Technical-Referencing, Wet Chemistry, and Toxicology. This classes didactic, and hands-on module serves to instruct participants in the nuances of behind-the-front-line operations at a hazardous materials event.

HazMat Technician Module “C”:
Is ‘warm-up’ for full field operations. Topics including ICS, Medical Monitoring, and Weather are augmented by practical hands-on training.

HazMat Technician Module “D”:
Concludes the Technician series with classroom topics including Terrorism, Damage Assessment, Legal Framework, Regulations, and Offensive Control of Hazardous Materials Incidents.
